Josh Soll

Shark Allies Research Intern

Josh has an innate passion and interest in anything environmental. His fascination with sharks and the ocean began at a young age. It wasn’t until he watched a scientific shark documentary during his freshman year at the University of Colorado Boulder, however, that he realized the extent to which sharks were threatened by anthropogenic impacts. It was at this moment that Josh realized he wanted to pursue a career in shark conservation. Josh is a shark advocate, open water SCUBA diver, avid hiker, photographer, and outdoor enthusiast. He connected with Laurel and Stefanie while he was completing a semester abroad in the country of Panamá during his junior year of college. During his time in Panamá, Josh studied tropical ecology, marine ecosystems, and biodiversity conservation, and had the privilege to spend time with multiple indigenous communities. While Josh’s native language is English, he is also fluent in Spanish and enjoys every opportunity to speak Spanish with others.
