Reducing plastic pollution

Modern technology owes ecology an apology.
Alan M. Eddison

Every year at least 8 MILLION TONS of plastic waste end up in the ocean. This is a massive problem that all of us contribute to by using and trashing disposable plastic every day. Most of them are items we could simply do without. One of the most frivolous examples is plastic straws - Americans alone use 500 million drinking straws per day!

This is a problem that is staring us straight in the face.

The images below were taken January 2018 on the beaches in Marina del Rey and Venice and along Ballona Creek.

Drastically reduce the use of plastic straws, swizzle sticks and other plastic utensils by encouraging businesses to serve straws "by demand only" and using alternative products made from sustainable materials ONLY.
