What is Shark Allies?

Consider us the PR department for Sharks.

As a non-profit organization we want to act as a central nerve center for everyone that wants to lend a hand in the effort to save the sharks and in turn, keep our oceans healthy.
This will be done by supporting existing shark research, improving ocean education in schools, bringing funding to underfunded researchers and developing programs, films and data that will help dispel the bad rap that is getting sharks killed all over the world!

Currently we are in the middle of the start up phase, searching for active members and advisors, compiling databases and researching the most urgent issues we can attack. The goal is to think big and to form this organization not as a means for a few of us to do some shark work, but to create a central resource that can be used to be truly effective.

Over the years many of the top researchers, environmentalists, photographers and even celebrities have expressed their interest and have offered their assistance and support. We hope to draw from this pool of "experts" and willing humans to build a strong force.

One of the immediate goals of Shark Allies is to improve the knowledge of sharks and to dispel some of the myths and unreasonable fears that exist these days. First efforts will concentrate on Hawaii, but with YOUR help and initiative we hope to eventually expand Shark Allies into an international organization.
